Chizoba Charity Foundation ("the Foundation", "we", "us") is a humanitarian organisation working to reduce poverty and improve access to healthcare, education and basic amenities in the communities we serve. This policy explains what personal information we collect through chizobafoundation.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

By using this website or making a donation through it, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

• When you contact us: your name, email address, the subject line and the content of your message.
• When you donate: your first and last name, email address, phone number (if you provide one), the amount you are giving, whether the gift is one-off or monthly, and any message you choose to leave.
• When you volunteer or partner with us: whatever details you send us in that correspondence.

Information collected automatically

Our web host records standard server logs when you visit the site — your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested and the time of the request. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure.

Photographs and video from our programmes

We photograph and film our outreaches so that supporters can see the work their giving pays for. Where we publish images of identifiable people on this website or our social media, we do so on the basis of consent obtained at the event. If you appear in an image on this site and would like it removed, email us and we will take it down.

3. Payment information we do not collect

This is important, so we want to be plain about it: we never see, handle or store your card details, bank credentials, CVV or PIN.

Card and online donations are processed by Flutterwave, a licensed payment service provider. When you choose to give by card, you are taken to Flutterwave's own secure checkout page and enter your payment details there. Flutterwave tells our server only whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and a transaction reference. Their handling of your payment data is governed by Flutterwave's privacy policy.

4. How we use your information

• To process your donation, issue a receipt, and keep an accurate record of gifts received.
• To reply to your enquiry, volunteer offer or partnership proposal.
• To send you updates about our work — only where you have asked to receive them. Every such message includes a way to unsubscribe.
• To meet our accounting, audit and legal obligations as a charitable organisation.
• To protect the site against fraud, abuse and technical failure.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not profile you for advertising.

5. Legal basis for processing

Where the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 applies, we rely on the following grounds:

• Contract — to process a donation you have chosen to make.
• Consent — for marketing emails and for publishing photographs of identifiable individuals.
• Legal obligation — for financial record-keeping.
• Legitimate interest — for site security and for responding to enquiries you send us.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.

We share limited information only with:

• Flutterwave, to process your donation.
• Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its data.
• Professional advisers and auditors, where required for accounting or legal compliance.
• Regulators or law enforcement, where we are legally required to disclose.

7. Cookies

This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or third-party marketing pixels. Any cookies set are strictly necessary for the site to function.

Note that when you are redirected to Flutterwave to complete a payment, Flutterwave may set its own cookies on its own pages, under its own policy.

8. How long we keep it

• Donation records: retained for at least seven years, to meet financial record-keeping and audit requirements.
• Contact enquiries: retained for up to two years after our last exchange with you.
• Mailing list details: retained until you unsubscribe.
• Server logs: retained for a short period as set by our host.

9. Keeping your information secure

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Payment credentials are handled entirely by Flutterwave and never reach our systems. Access to donation and enquiry records is limited to the Foundation personnel who need it to do their work.

No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a breach ever occurred that put your rights at risk, we would notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy;
• have inaccurate information corrected;
• ask us to delete your information, where we are not legally required to keep it;
• object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
• withdraw consent at any time, including unsubscribing from our emails;
• lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

We will respond to any request within 30 days.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through it. Where children participate in our programmes, we obtain consent from a parent or guardian before photographing or filming them. If you believe a child has given us information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to other sites

Our pages link to organisations such as Flutterwave and to our social media accounts. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our work or the law changes. The current version always appears on this page with the date it was last revised at the top. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
